Kindling Privacy
Kindling is a habit tracker that lives in your browser. We do not create an account for you. Your list, check-ins, and puzzle scores stay on this device. Kindling keeps a public count of how many devices have opened the tracker, and how many habits and checks those devices have kindled — numbers only, never names.
What stays on this device
Your list, colors, days, times, streaks, layout, theme, reminder switch, language, and Focus puzzle progress are saved in this browser’s local storage. Clear the site data and that copy is gone. Save backup in Settings or the footer writes a Kindling file of habits and checks on this device. Restore reads that file here. Kindling’s servers never see it. Another phone or laptop starts blank unless you bring a list or a backup over yourself.
What you choose to send
If you share a quote, a pack, or the app, the link is something you copy, scan, or post. A habit pack URL can include habit names, colors, days, and times — not your streaks, and not a login. Do not put a list in a public post if you would not say those names out loud.
The flame tally
The circles at the bottom of Kindling are a public tally: unique devices that have opened the tracker (starting from 100), habits on those lists (starting from 500), and embers — checks kindled (starting from 1,000). Each device sends a random token stored in this browser, plus two numbers. Not your habit names, not streaks, not quotes, and not an account. Clearing site data makes a new token the next time you visit.
What the host may see
Loading Kindling is an ordinary web visit. The host can receive standard request logs (address, browser, pages fetched). Kindling itself does not add an ad network or a third-party tracker. The flame tally is first-party counts on Kindling’s own server. Install-to-home-screen uses the browser’s own prompt.
Children
Families use Kindling for chores on a shared device. We do not collect personal information from children. A child’s list, if you make one, stays in that browser unless you share a pack.
